In this week's lesson the class watched Blue Velvet (David Lynch 1986).
Lynch is a director heavily influenced by Surrealism and it is important to remember that this film is not a surrealist film but one influenced by surrealism.
Your Home study is to make notes on the film showing how Narrative structure, themes and characterisation do or do not reflect those surrealist influences.

On Tuesday's lesson we watched The Phantom of Liberty (Bunuel 1974). This is the focus film for the Surrealism module and therefore very important to know in depth. You can buy a copy easily from Amazon which would be helpful.
Homework for Tuesday's lesson is 1) Bullet point how film reflects surrealism in terms of : Narrative, Characterisation and Themes. 2) Find two reviews to bring to lesson for discussion.
